José Ignacio Hormaeche holds a degreein Civil Engineering (specialisation in Hydraulics and Energy, 1986) from theTechnical University of Madrid and an Executive MBA with a focus on Marketingfrom the University of Deusto (1991). Since March 2013, he has served asManaging Director of the Basque Energy Cluster, an association that brings together more than 200 companies and organisations from across the energy valuechain. In this role, he promotes their competitiveness through collaborativeinitiatives in technology, internationalisation, talent development andsustainability. From 2006 to2013, he was General Director of the Basque Energy Agency (EVE) and sat on theboards of several energy companies. During this period, he also chaired theresearch centre CIC energiGUNE and the public companies CADEM and SHESA.Earlier in his career, he worked at GAMESA, where he became Chief OperatingOfficer of GAMESA EÓLICA, and held senior positions at SIEMSA, the COINPASAGroup and the technology centre ROBOTIKER, gaining extensive experience inenergy, industrial management and innovation.
