Welcome to the H2Excellence European Hydrogen Academy
The H2Excellence project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union (EU) aims to establish a network of Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) focused on fuel cell and green hydrogen technologies. Through collaborative development, the project promotes high-quality educational and vocational training programmes aimed at bridging existing skills gaps in these emerging fields. The project also organises various knowledge-sharing and capacity-building events to facilitate the project’s objectives. Such is the H2Excellence European Hydrogen Academy event, which will take place on May 20-22, 2026, in Lisbon, Portugal.
As Project Manager, I am proud to introduce this dynamic and forward-looking initiative, which is designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and learning across Europe’s hydrogen ecosystem. This 3-day academy is a cornerstone of our broader mission to connect Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs), VET providers, businesses, and the scientific community in a shared journey toward a sustainable hydrogen future
Hosted under Task 4.6 and Work Package 4 of the H2Excellence project, the Academy brings together students, researchers, educators, and industry leaders to explore the scientific, technical, and vocational dimensions of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Through a rich programme of lectures, workshops, facility visits, and networking sessions, participants will gain insights into cutting-edge research, real-world applications, and emerging opportunities across the hydrogen value chain.
Whether you're a student pursuing engineering studies, a researcher working on R&D projects, or a company developing hydrogen solutions, this event offers a unique platform to learn, connect, and contribute to Europe’s clean energy transition.

Welcome to a place where learning meets purpose. Our Institution, LNEG – National Laboratory for Energy and Geology, I.P., Portugal, is organising the H2Excellence European Hydrogen Academy, in the framework of the H2Excellence European Project and in cooperation with the other project partners. As a Portuguese reference National Research Laboratory, LNEG promotes and carries out research, demonstration and knowledge transfer actions, technical and technological assistance, and laboratory support for companies. Also plays a significant role in the formulation and support of public policies in the domains of Energy and Geology.
